Nice catch: Shaun Chase of Malden (aka Randy Moss) holds up his tickets to tomorrow’s game.

With tickets ridiculously expensive and virtually impossible to come by, die-hard Pats fans put their dignity and valuables on the line yesterday in hopes of winning free tickets to tomorrow’s AFC championship game in Foxboro.
At Modell’s Sports in Medford, superfans donned spirited and wacky costumes for the chance to win two tickets to the Pats-Chargers matchup.
And at WBCN [website] radio, Fred Toucher and Rich Shertenlieb - of the afternoon radio duo “Toucher & Rich” - challenged listeners to a trivia contest in which losers had their cars smashed with sledgehammers and the winner walked away with a complete AFC game-day package - and only minor damage to his car.
“We wanted a real Pats fan to win these tickets,” said Shertenlieb. “So to make sure a real fan got it they had to put something of worth on the line.”
The contest operated under a three-strikes policy - with each wrong answer resulting in either a smashed hood, smashed headlights or smashed windows.
“We have a bunch of faithfuls who think they know everything about the Pats, so they think their cars are perfectly safe,” Toucher said.
In winner Scott Bourque’s case, his Ford Taurus fared pretty well.
After answering the winning question correctly - Question: In 1994, which Patriot set the record for most receptions in a season by a tight end? Answer: Ben Coates - Bourque, 27, and his wife, Kim, 26, of Georgetown, left the station with two game tickets, a limo ride to Gillette Stadium and a promised visit with WBCN’s Gil Santos in the broadcast booth - and only a pair of broken headlights.
“I wanted to go to the game badly,” Bourque said. “I was willing to take the chance.”
Bourque’s two competitors weren’t so lucky. Not only did they not win tickets, but they left the lot via tow truck.
“Everything got blown out,” said Kim Bourque. “Front headlights, hoods and all the windows.”
At Modell’s, the stakes weren’t quite so high, but fans were just as desperate. Dressed like Randy Moss in a wig, mask and jersey, winner Shawn Chase, 21, of Malden was asked who he’d be taking to the game. “There will be a lot of jockeying,” he said. “I may have to do my own contest.”
