Summary:

Primary responsibility for this position will be to manage the protection of the campus community including the people and the property. Other duties include creating and presenting programs to members of the public to enhance safety awareness, noting all discrepancies of a safety or security nature so that corrective action may be taken, and enforcement of Massachusetts Laws and campus rules and regulations. Applicants should be comfortable working in a department committed to the community policing philosophy with an eye toward customer service.

Requirements:

Qualified applicants should possess a degree in Criminal Justice, the ability to maintain special police authority in accordance with Chapter 22c, Section 63 of the Massachusetts Laws, and a valid license to operate a motor vehicle. Candidates should have excellent communication skills, problem solving skills, the ability to lead and manage people, and the skill to work effectively with all levels of an academic organization. Simmons College is committed to a community policing philosophy, qualified applicants should have some experience or knowledge of community policing on a college campus.
