He/She Doesn't Want To Pay For Name Change

CHICAGO -- A transgender woman who wants to change her legal name is asking the Illinois Supreme Court to order Will County's chief judge to waive about $450 in court fees because of her low income. The legal filing by 52-year-old Daunn Turner, of Lockport, contends that Will County Chief Judge Stephen White rejected the request by declaring the name change was something she wanted, not something that she needed. Turner claims White also declared he wouldn't spend the county's money on something like that.Turner said she sought to change her name from "Donald" to reflect her identity.

should have thought of that before the change

So let me get this straight, he/she had the money to pay for the surgery, but doesn't have the $450 to pay for the name change because he/she is low income...how the hell did he/she pay for the surgery then????

He/she? BULLSHIT, thats just a mutilated MALE...You cannot "change" the sex you were born with.

Great...so this person is entitled to get surgery payed for when it is medically unnecessary, but those who have legitimate medical issues can't get their treatments, surgeries, etc paid for!!! WTF....

An aunt of mine had breast cancer and needed to have a mastectomy and was told by the insurance company that they would not pay for her prosthetic...

Turned out they ended up paying after she fought with them over the phone for months and then finally went to their offices and told them they could keep it since it was more important to them. I give her a lot of credit for that...I don't think I could ever do what she did.

Hey you can do what you want to do with your body and that's your business, but when people are struggling to get healthcare for legitimate reasons and still can't get assistance from medicaid/medicare (whatever)...it just blows my mind...sorry I will get off my now.

Shoulda opted for the 7 inch penis instead of the 9 and saved the extra money for the name change............

There are some in the psychology/psychiatry field that would argue the physical "change" is medically necessary to reflect the mental gender status of the individual.

That being said, I still agree with the judge. He/she can call himself/herself by any name - the legal name is only for documents and legal transactions anyway....
