Man burglarizes minimart, caught after fleeing to Sing Sing

OSSINING - A man accused of burglarizing a minimart fled onto the grounds of Sing Sing state prison and got stopped by a corrections officer this morning.
Blake Leak, a homeless 23-year-old who has 24 prior arrests, was charged with two felony counts of third-degree burglary, misdemeanor resisting arrest and related crimes, Ossining police Detective Lt. William Sullivan said.
He allegedly broke into the Southside Minimart on Spring Street about 3:30 a.m. Village police, responding to a neighbor who called to report a crashing sound at the store, interrupted the burglary. Chased by police, Leak ran off to the nearby Sing Sing Correctional Facility, where a guard nabbed him.
Two police officers were injured in the pursuit, one breaking a finger and another injuring his back when they fell down an embankment. They were treated at Phelps Memorial Hospital in Sleepy Hollow.
Leak was charged with this morning's burglary and another on Friday in which he allegedly stole lottery tickets from the same market. Sullivan said Leak actually won money with a few of those tickets and cashed them in New York City; they're investigating how much he won as part of their ongoing investigation.
Leake is also a suspect in four other burglaries at the minimart over the past few months. He allegedly broke in through a side door.
He is being held without bail at the Westchester County jail in Valhalla and is due back in Village Court on Tuesday.
