BROCKTON— The man wanted in the shooting death outside a Main Street liquor store was captured in Florida by authorities, law enforcement officials said today.
Shane Bester, 26, of 74 Park St., Brockton, was captured in Orlando, Fla., around 11:30 p.m. Thursday.
He is accused of killing Adilson Pires, 24, who was gunned down on Main Street after the victim attended a wake for another homicide victim.
Plymouth County District Attorney Timothy J. Cruz said state and Brockton investigators developed information that the suspect had fled to Florida, where he knew several people.
Brockton and state police were able to pinpoint where the suspect was believed to be hiding, and asked Florida officials to pick him up, Cruz said.
Police Chief William Conlon said he was pleased with the swift arrest of the suspect.
Bester is believed to have fled the area shortly after the shooting of Pires Tuesday night.
Sources said Pires and Bester, who had a prior altercation, saw each other in the area of a liquor store on Main Street and had a confrontation that led to the shooting.
Pires had attended a wake earlier for Markeen Starks, 19, about a half-block from the shooting. Starks had been stabbed to death on New Years Day.
Meanwhile, authorities are also investigating Tuesday's shooting on Falmouth Avenue that left two men wounded, one critically.
Ronnell Lewis, 30, of Randolph, was shot in the head and torso and was in critical condition Thursday, authorities said.
Darron Hurt, 21, of Taunton was shot in the head and arm and was treated for non-life-threatening injuries.

Accused killer has a history of violence
By Maureen Boyle, Enterprise staff writer
BROCKTON — The man accused in the shooting death outside a liquor store this week has a violent criminal record peppered with gun charges.
Shane Bester, 26, once threatened to shoot a man who cut him off in traffic, and he was caught with ammunition shortly after a shooting outside a Main Street bar.
He is now jailed in Florida, where authorities say he fled after the homicide Tuesday night.
Bester is accused of killing Adilson Pires, 24, of Brockton, who was gunned down on Main Street after the victim attended a wake for another homicide victim.
Plymouth County District Attorney Timothy J. Cruz said state and Brockton investigators developed information that the suspect had fled to Florida, where he knew several people.
Brockton and state police were able to pinpoint where the suspect was believed to be hiding and asked Florida officials to pick him up, Cruz said.
Bester was arrested at 12940 Los Alamitos Court in Orlando and was being held at the Orange County jail, said Orange County Sheriff's Department Cpl. Susan Soto.
Brockton Police Chief William Conlon said he was pleased with the swift arrest of the suspect.
It worked out well,” he said.
Sources said Pires and Bester had a prior altercation and saw each other in the area of a liquor store on Main Street. They had a confrontation that led to the shooting.
Pires had attended a wake earlier for Markeen Starks, 19, about a half a block from the shooting scene.
Starks was stabbed to death on New Year's Day.
The shooting of Pires does not appear to be tied to Starks' slaying, authorities said.
Bester is a well-known figure to law enforcement officials, with arrests ranging from assault and battery to cocaine dealing.
In 2002, he was arrested after a man told authorities someone threatened to shoot him. The man said Bester jumped out of his car and threatened him after he cut him off on a city street.
“I'll shoot you,” Bester told the man, according to court papers filed in that case. “Do you want to feel my nine (9mm gun) in your head?”
In 2006, he was arrested on illegal possession of ammunition after police spotted him in a car leaving the scene of a shooting at Bar Dinho's on Main Street. Bester, who was already wanted on parole-violation warrants at the time, was later found guilty and the charge was filed.
Last month, he was caught driving without a license through the city with his headlights turned off. He was found guilty and the case was continued to Feb. 2 until he paid fines.
