POLICE OFFICER State of Rhode Island Department of Administration Capitol Police Officer $30,147 - $33,486 Protects the State Capitol and annexes, properties contained therein, and the adjacent state buildings, grounds and premises against the ordinary hazards of trespass, theft, fire and damage; maintains order on the premises; protects employees and the public while on the premises and does related work as required. Qualifications must include graduation from senior high school and employment in a position which involved the protection of life or property in such fields as: the armed forces, municipal, state or federal police or fire fighting organizations; or in plant protection. Or any combination of education and experience substantially equivalent. Letters of interest and resume must be submitted no later than Monday, March 14, 2005 at 4 p.m. either by mail to: Richard Petronio, Office of Personnel Administration, One Capitol Hill, Providence Rhode Island, 02908, by electronic mail to: capitolpolicepositions@hr.ri.gov or by fax to (401) 222-2512. For general information, call (401) 222-6390; TTY/TDD: 7-1-1. Candidates meeting minimum qualifications will be scheduled to appear for a written assessment. The highest scoring candidates will be referred for psychological evaluation, BCI and pass a physical assessment. Qualified candidates will participate in the Rhode Island Municipal Police Academy or a comparable program offered by the state or municipal police departments. Graduates of this academy will be eligible for appointment. At the time of appointment must be physically qualified to perform assigned duties as evidenced by a physician's certificate.
