Man's Girlfriend Bit 4-Year-Old In Incident Over Bouncy Ball
MINNEOLA, Fla. -- A man's girlfriend was arrested Saturday after she bit the man's 4-year-old girl on the arm at a Central Florida park, leaving a full set of teeth imprints, according to a Lake County sheriff's report.
Elizabeth Thiele Merrick-Knippel, 34, was charged with child abuse after the incident at Trailhead Park in Minneola at about 1 p.m.
According to Lake County sheriff's deputies, Merrick-Knippel said she was sitting on the girl's bouncy ball when the 4-year-old demanded that she get off it and give it to her. The woman said the girl then kicked her in the leg, although there was no injury or mark on her, according to the report.
Merrick-Knippel picked up the girl to put her in timeout and the girl kicked and screamed, so she bit her on the arm through a long-sleeve dress, the Lake County sheriff's report said.
The girl was taken to her mother, who called police.
Deputies said the girl's arm was red and bruised about two hours after the incident.
Merrick-Knippel was booked into the Lake County Jail on $5,000 bond.
