A bearded David Letterman is seen at his desk on the set of ’The Late Show with David Letterman’ Wednesday.

The 16-0 Patriots [team stats] have earned even Indianapolis native David Letterman’s respect, but the record-shattering undefeated team still gets a vote of no confidence from the newly bearded wonder.
“I predict they’re going down first round of the playoffs. They’re gone,” Letterman, 60, told “Late Show” guest Donald Trump, a close pal of Pats owner Robert Kraft, Friday night.
In a rare moment of capturing the bombastic billionaire at a loss for words, Letterman interjected, “And the defending (Super Bowl) champion Indianapolis Colts will once again prevail.”
What makes Letterman’s dissing of the perfect Pats hard to swallow is that last month Kraft announced he and the talk-show host’s network, CBS, have struck a deal to open a massive theme restaurant this fall next to Gillette Stadium called the CBS Scene Restaurant and Bar. Among the stars whose work will be prominently showcased? Letterman.
“He’s a Colts fan,” Pats spokesman Stacey James rationalized.
“He (Letterman) shouldn’t be talking about a team he knows nothing about. He’s jealous,” said John Lawler, 41, of Dorchester, who was filling the painful hours of a bye week catching up on errands.
Even Patrick Sheehan, 27, of Ireland, out for “a pint” in South Boston, fired back, “Patriots are going to win. Brady. He’s brilliant.”
Shawn Kelley, 25, of Southie, grinned and said confidently, “I feel another Super Bowl victory coming on. It’s a dynasty. We’ve already beaten (the Colts) this season and we’re better now than we were when they beat us last year. We’re unstoppable.”

If I may add; he's also thoroughly unfunny, boorish, politically ill-informed and a horses ass.
