BOSTON -- Fenway Park is being considered for an outdoor hockey game, building on the success of last week's National Hockey League "Winter Classic" in Buffalo.
Boston Bruins owner Charlie Jacobs told the Boston Herald he's lobbying league officials to have the NHL's next outdoor game in Boston, and Fenway Park is on his wish list.
Red Sox executives said they "absolutely" would explore the idea. Jacobs said other locations could be Boston Common, Gillette Stadium or Harvard Stadium.
The New Year's Day game between Buffalo and Pittsburgh drew 71,000 fans to Ralph Wilson Stadium, where the Buffalo Bills play football.
NHL commissioner Gary Bettman said several teams are interested in hosting next year's "classic."
That would be cool, maybe a bruins/rangers game or bruins/montreal. It would probably sell out with montreal fans (not good for us) but it would be a commercial success.

As cool as it would be to have the game at Fenway, the seating capacity is only around 40,000. Gillette would probably make for a better spot as they could probably sell upwards of 70,000.

I'd totally see a game at Fenway...Gillette I wouldn't go to...I didn't even care for the football game when I was there...too big, too impersonal. But some people like it that way.

it would definitely have to be boston-montreal...original 8...the rivalry, id go to either gillette or fenway, but of course fenway would be better

How about having the Beanpot there? Michigan vs Michigan state was outdoors a few years ago.
