Greetings all,

Many of us know how frustrating it can be to get a foot into the door of law enforcement. Some of us may know of people trying to get a toe-hold in the field right now. If you know of someone fitting the below qualifications that would like to work for Holyoke Community College's Police Department, please feel free to pass this message along.

POSITION:
SECURITY OFFICER
Facilities

SOURCE OF FUNDING:
Trust

RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Assigned for foot patrol of the campus
2. Notifies appropriate authorities of security and saftey problems on campus.
3. Opens and secures buildings and rooms within buildings.
4. Issues parking tickets.
5. Takes necessary action in an emergency to assist police officers and fire fighters.
6. Enforces College policies.
7. Attends and completes training as required.
8. Performs other duties.


REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
At least six months of full-time, or equivalent part-time, experience in law enforcement, in a governmental agency or police force, or in work involving the protection or security of buildings, equipment, or people as a major duty or Associate's or higher degree with a major in Police Science, Law Enforcement, Criminal Justice may be substituted for required experience (Education toward such a degree will be prorated on the basis of the proportion of the requirements actually completed); computer literate; good oral and written communication skills; team player capable of independent duty; valid class 3 motor vehicle license; ability to work effectively with a diverse faculty, staff and student body.

STARTING DATE:
February 2005 - June 30, 2005 (possibility of extension).

COMPENSATION:
$12.00 per hour, no benefits

HOURS:
Not to exceed 18.5 hours per week, Monday - Friday 7:30 a.m. -11:00 a.m.
