Alaska Troopers Recruiting

(Click here to view the original thread on the MassCops Message Board)

Friend of mine just told me that the Alaska State Troopers are recruiting and deadline for application is in February. I suggest you go to their website and/or contact them directly should you seek more information. I know everyone is looking south with all this snow but Alaska is a beautiful place. Oh, I checked and learned the "Big Island" of Hawaii is also recruiting on a rolling basis. Go to their website if interested

Well, think of it this way...
Although these are current temperatures in Nome:

NOME:
Tonight: Partly cloudy. Lows 5° below to 20° below.
North winds 5 to 15 mph. Local gusts to 25 mph

You always have the possibility of Global Warming to cling to.... So there's hope.

Back-up can be 100 miles away. However, almost everyone carries a gun up their and you can deputize them instantly. Saw that once on Real Stories of the Highway Patrol.

I gotta a recruiting thing from some small local PD in Alaska a few years ago, and they were paying some enormous amount of money per year. I actually have a friend that lives up there, and I asked her why that was. Evidentally, everything costs a fortune up there.

Also, do not forget the 30 days of darkness and the 30 days of continuous daylight!!!!! I guess it would make it easier with the daylight for the overnight shift!!!!!

As for Hawaii: Honolulu has a filing deadline of Feb 8 for a March Exam. The County of Hawaii Police (Big Island) indicates it's looking for officers and maintains a list which is open continuously. See both websites for further info. Then who wants to spend time on the beach or lush rain forests chasing down bad guys when you can be experiencing the thrills of pushing through deep snow drifts over ice covered terrain in sub zero weather during long weeks of darkness doing the same thing and having a better website.

Don't be fooled by Hawaii's so called charm..
There's only so many Polynesian girls, mai-tais, 85° days, immaculately clean beaches, in essentially a tropical paradise that a man can take.

SEE YA!!!

There has got to be better jobs out there than being an Alaska Trooper

Don't forget, Dog the Bounty Hunter and his fat hoe wife got your back too.

When I first watched that show I couldn't tell who was the "dog".
Dog or the wife... What a gaggle of inbred, overbearing losers.

Hawaii doesn't pay very well and the cost of living on the islands is sky-high. They rely on their desirable location to draw in fresh people.

Ran into some Alaskan Troopers a couple of years ago training at the SPA. Real nice guys, and they spoke highly of their job. But it is true, they have gigantic patrol areas and often measure their response time in days. Many Troopers are bush pilots, and the ones who aren't have the authority to charter planes and pilots. I would seriously consider a career on the ASP, if I wasn't already on a department here.

pilots...so 20/20 vision is would be required
