BOSTON (WBZ) ― MBTA police have arrested a young man who allegedly tried to steal an agent's gun Thursday night. The incident was captured on surveillance tape.

Transit police say 17-year-old Nelson Otuechere of Roslindale tried to take the MBTA Revenue Collection Agent's handgun at the Chinatown station.

Officials released a still image from the video Friday.

Another revenue agent intervened and stopped Otuechere, who is now charged with attempted robbery.

The MBTA will release more information about the incident at a news conference Friday afternoon.

I'm sure that fine upstanding citizen saw that the agent's gun was going to fall out of it's holster, and was merely trying to reholster it.

That seems like a lot of work to get a gun. It is fairly easy for a person who does not observe the firearm laws to get one in Boston.

Agent number 2 should have SHOT that douchebag.

Harley - watching the vid on the news I was thinking the same thing.
WTF is the use of force policy for this job classification???
Try and steal the coinage and we can drop you, but try and take our firearms and we do a little dance?

They should have dropped that turd on the spot.

they're armed probably for self defense, like armored car guards are. If they really wanted to protect the money there would be 3 armored car gaurds, one with a shotgun or rifle watching over the other armored car gaurd as he or she walks in and out, the 3rd being the driver of the armored car. Back in the 50s they used to actually do this from what I heard.

They are armored car guards for the mbta coin and currency transport, they have an armored car just like Brinks.
They days of the guard on the street with the shotgun are long gone except for
special occasions,large value transports.

Absolutely.

The news reports that these guards are trained in hand gun retention and the like, I wonder if they carry pepper spray, or batons. On the film it looks like the 2nd guy was drawing but the purp hadn't got the weapon, from the female. If he had shot the kid then it would have been a cluster. Pepper spay or baton would have been the way to go.

Douchebag's hand on Officer's gun = Acute lead poisoning. Period.
