I have been lurking here for about two weeks, and despite my reading the MPTC site, I haven't found all the answers I need yet. I'm not exactly sure what I need. I am in decent shape (and getting better thanks to an early gift of a membership to a local gym, I can now run a mile without any great strain), I have an LTC, I have competed in some IDPA matches (The best I've placed yet is third), and I am a very close friend to my local Chief. How do I go about applying for an Auxiliary Academy? What sort of credentials do I need, IE having worked security somewhere. and finally, what precisely do I need from my chief? I've heard of sponserships, but I was planning on paying for it myself.
Thank you for any help you can offer,

Are you referring to the Reserve Academy? You will find the application on the MPTC website (mass.gov), fill it out, give it to your Chief for sponsorship, and submit. They will let you know from there. Most departments will not pay for you to go, you have to pay your own way and don't expect to get on a department just because they may sign the application for you no matter how "friendly" you are with a Chief. Good luck!
