That's a department that impresses me. I love the station, great set up with the grate (no pun intended) that comes down after hours to secure the place.

Thanks for the response....Why are things " Not looking good", is it lack of applicants, non-MSSP applicants, or unqualified applicants?

The WNEC position is not filled yet. Two candidates have been targeted for an interview that will occur in the upcoming weeks. Original requirements for the job were limiting their applicant pool (i.e. bachelor's degree & SSPO academy already completed). These requirements have since been relaxed because most applicants didn't meet the criteria. Bachelor degree in CJ has to be at the least "in progress" & the new hire will be sent to the SSPO Academy if not already completed. Unfortunately there is no extra pay incentive for having a degree, it's a requirement set by the Board of Trustees. This is an armed department and required training at Smith & Wesson will be provided if needed. Of course being SSPO trained, having notable campus policing experience, degree in hand, having a great background and already having completed a tactical pistol course would be a home run.
The dispatcher position WNEC had available is now full.

Thanks everybody. I have luked on this site for a while...it's amazing how you can find almost any info you need.
This is a little off target but, when is the next SSPO academy?

Not 110% sure, but I believe there is an SSPO academy in progress or slated to begin shortly. After this class, I think the next SSPO academy is scheduled for the spring, maybe April. I don't know what the duration of the SSPO academy will be. State Police seems to flip/flop between either a 14 or 16 week program. Rumors always exist of the academy being held for even longer, but I'm not aware of anything notable happening with the concept.

Thanks....I was on the MSSPO part of this site. No clear answers on the academy's time or location.
Any idea on WNEC PD's outlook on hiring in the future? Is there any anticipation of positions other than the one currently available? What is the promotional opportunity (Any retirees on the horizon, etc.)?
