According to authorities, the man in the photos is responsible for at least five bank robberies in the San Diego area this month.
The FBI, San Diego Police Department and La Mesa Police Department are all asking for the public's help in identifying the man in the photos. According to officials, the bandit walks into the banks and either verbally demands money from cashiers or uses a note during the robberies.
Officials said the Ugly Plaid Bandit robbed a California Bank and Trust in the 5500 block of Grossmont Center Drive in La Mesa just after 11 a.m. Saturday morning. The FBI believes the same man also robbed a San Diego bank on Dec. 7 and two other banks in La Jolla and San Diego on Dec. 14.
The FBI said they consider the man to be dangerous.
"In one instance, he did threaten one of the bank cashiers with physical harm if she did not comply with his demand," FBI Special Agent Darrell Foxworth told NBC 7/39. "So we do consider this person to be someone that's dangerous, and we want to make sure that people are aware of this."
He is described as a white male in his late 30s or early 40s, approximately 6 feet 2 inches tall, with a thin build. He has brown hair and has worn plaid clothing during a number of the robberies.
Anyone with information is asked to call the FBI at 858-565-1255 or Crime Stoppers at 888-580-TIPS (8477).
