BURLINGTON, Vt. — Burlington Police say veteran Sergeant Donald Lilja has resigned amid an investigation of misconduct in a possible drunken driving incident.
Police are investigating whether a Colchester police officer drove Lilja home after pulling him over on suspicion of drunken driving.
The officer who pulled Lilja over did not test him for alcohol consumption and allegedly drove him home.
The Burlington police department on Tuesday released a statement saying "Lilja has accepted responsibility and expressed his sincere regret for his error in judgment to operate a motor vehicle after having consumed alcohol."
