Hi. I have a kel-tec SU-16 rifle, which accepts M16/AT15 mags from the factory. Im curious if I was to get some preban highcap mags from a gunshow or something- would i be breaking any laws by using this new combination?

AFAIK you can use preban mags in a postban receiver.

Preban mags are OK in a post ban rifle. The only concern you should have is if the combination of magazine and rifle will make it a large capacity rifle v. a non-large capacity rifle should you not have the appropriate license.
Example:
At 18, go to the store with your FID, buy a Ruger 10/22. Then find a preban 30 round magazine, stick it into the gun...you are in violation of MA law.
You can buy a 10/22 with an FID but if you put the large capacity mag in it it becomes a large capacity rifle. The mfg intended for it to be only non-large capacity but the aftermarket parts would make it otherwise.

So so long as you have a Class B or Class A, you can posses the mags and use them in the rifle. If you DO NOT have the Class A or B, you can't own the mags and you can't use them in the rifle.
