FRAMINGHAM - Police used pepper spray and a Taser to subdue a man who resisted arrest after a four-day crack cocaine binge.
James A. Mushinsky, 44, of 10 Arrowwood Drive in Shrewsbury was arrested yesterday on charges of driving under the influence of cocaine, driving to endanger, assault and battery on a police officer, assault and battery with a dangerous weapon (a shod foot), resisting arrest and disorderly conduct.
A Framingham State College Police officer tried to subdue Mushinsky using pepper spray, but he kept resisting, Framingham Police Lt. Paul Shastany said. A Framingham officer then used a Taser four times on the suspect when he refused to be detained.
"He was out of control," Shastany said. "We learned later he was on a four-day crack binge. He was maniacal in strength."
Mushinsky kicked officer Robert Sibilio as he tried to use the Taser, and injured the officer's hand, Shastany said.
Shastany said Framingham and FSC police handled the situation well.
"The officers did a remarkable job in preventing (Mushinsky) from doing more harm to himself, as well as controlling him," Shastany said.
Police first received reports of Mushinsky when a driver on Rte. 9 reported a man hitting a woman in a car near Temple Street. Another caller reported seeing the woman trying to get out of the car as it was moving.
The woman, who police believe also took part in the crack binge, was not identified, and she does not face any charges.

Cripes, that's one for the good guys. Well done unnamed FSC Officer! You guys surely are in the thick of it over there.
This is also why I stop after three days. Four is just for amatures and that's what they get for it.
Of course, I can almost hear it now, "Well see, they didn't need guns for that now did they?"

Kilvinsky-I agree about stopping after 3 days...maybe he should have stopped after 1 considering he was also on crystal-meth and 1 other "undetermined" narcotic. ROOKIE meth head!
+1 more for the good guys...

Sounds like a good caper for a beanbag shotgun. We get capers like this a few times a month and find that they work pretty well against folks like this guy.
Do you guys have them back there yet?
