PEABODY - A man authorities identified as the leader of a Lynn gang was held without bail yesterday on charges of domestic assault and battery, threatening to commit a crime, and violating a restraining order.
Raymundo Henriquez, 24, of 296 Boston St., Apt. 2, Lynn, went before Peabody District Court Judge James LaMothe Jr. on the three charges yesterday. Henriquez is identified in court documents as the leader of the Soldiers Street gang and the Deuce Boyz.
Police issued a warrant on Nov. 13 for Henriquez on charges of domestic assault and battery, and the defendant was later summonsed on the two additional charges, court documents said.
Henriquez, who had been in jail for about two years, went to see a former girlfriend living in Peabody shortly after his release Nov. 8, according to a police report. He threatened the woman, telling her that girls could not leave him, police said.
At the time, Henriquez also allegedly grabbed her by the neck to physically move her behind her house. The victim was able to pull away and he left, police said.
The woman obtained a restraining order against Henriquez on Nov. 12.
The defendant returned to the woman's Peabody residence the following day and hit her multiple times, slapped her and elbowed her in the chest, the report said. Henriquez also hit her on the head so hard she saw "light flashes," and he struck her another time on the left side of her head so that her ear was ringing, according to the report.
Before leaving the woman's home, he pointed to a tattoo that read, "death b4 dishonor" which she believed meant he would not allow her to leave him, the police report said. The victim said she did not think Henriquez would abide by the restraining order. She also wrote an explanation to officers that the defendant told her he would see her on the streets.
"He made me feel scared like as if I am going to die any day now," the woman wrote.
The defendant allegedly contacted the woman again on Nov. 14. He was arrested by Lynn police on Nov. 20.
Henriquez will return to Peabody District Court for a pretrial hearing Dec. 19, according to Karen Dawley, a spokeswoman for the Essex County district attorney.
