Two held on prostitution charges
By Julie Manganis
Staff writer

SALEM - Two men who allegedly ran a prostitution ring out of several North Shore motels are expected to remain in custody following their arraignments yesterday on a series of charges stemming from a state police investigation.
Damon Hendricks, 33, and Trevor Jones, 30, were in Salem Superior Court yesterday to answer to indictments issued last month by a grand jury.
Prosecutor Melissa Woodward said the investigation was launched by state police Sgt. Pi Haseltine after she received information from one of the young women involved.
That woman told the trooper she met the pair at a party and was soon walking the streets of Boston.
The two then decided to expand their business onto the Internet, using a popular bulletin board page to advertise "erotic services."
Three young women, ranging from 17 to their early 20s, were sent on "outcalls" - meeting customers at area motels or in their cars.
The two men operated out of motels along Route 1 in Peabody, Danvers and Saugus and in another motel in Middleton, Woodward said.
When police searched a room at the Holiday Inn in Peabody, they found a laptop computer open and running, with the Internet ad on the screen. They also found numerous pieces of women's clothing and high-heeled shoes. Police later subpoenaed the listings from the Web site.
Jones is already on probation for similar charges that were brought against him in Lawrence last spring.
Hendricks will remain held on a total of $150,000 cash bail on the prostitution charges and on a Salem rape charge. He's also being detained pending a hearing into whether the new charges are a violation of his probation in an earlier sexual assault case.
Both men are due back in court on Jan. 25.
Jones was ordered held on $25,000 cash bail.
