FREETOWN — An alert Richmond Road resident led police to arrest two individuals who allegedly stole copper piping from a newly constructed house.
The resident told police about a suspicious vehicle in front of the house just after noon Monday. The resident walked over to the house and saw a woman seated in the vehicle. Upon seeing him, the woman sounded the vehicle's horn.
Moments later, two men emerged from behind the house. The men told the neighbor they were looking for work, then drove off in the vehicle, police said. As they left, the neighbor recorded the license plate number.
Freetown Police Officer Marc Vachon responded to the scene and discovered that entry had been made into the house with a ladder. He also discovered that copper piping had been stripped off various walls, police said.
Officer Vachon broadcast the vehicle's description and possible destination. State Trooper Robert Plante later intercepted the vehicle on Apple Creek Lane in Fall River, where he apprehended two of the suspects.
Jonathan Teixeira, 19, of 36 Apple Creek Lane, Fall River, was charged with breaking and entering a building with intent to commit a felony. Chelsea B. Frank, 19, of 183 Whipple St., Fall River, was charged with being an accessory after the fact.
Freetown police issued an arrest warrant for the third suspect, identified as Miquel C. Teixeira, 23, of 36 Apple Creek Lane in Fall River. He is charged with breaking and entering a building with the intent to commit a felony.
