NEW BEDFORD — Police are investigating a shooting Saturday afternoon near Park and North streets in which a parked car and a house were struck by bullets.
There were no injuries, police reported.
Witnesses told police they saw two people running north on Park Street as well as a black Volvo and a green car, possibly a Toyota Camry, driving west on North Street minutes after the shooting Saturday.
Police received emergency calls just after 4 p.m. that shots were fired in the area.
Police officers John Pimentel, Shawn Roberts, Emmanuel Cabral and Sgt. Jeanine Pettiford responded. Detective Claudia Sampson also arrived.
The police officers recovered four 9-mm shell casings on a Park Street sidewalk, according to a police report.
The unoccupied parked vehicle and the side of a North Street house were struck by bullets.
The shots appeared to be fired from the west side of Park Street, north of the vehicle and the house that were struck, a police report said.
Witnesses did not give police any descriptions of the suspects. The detective division is investigating the incident.
