Confused between Reading/Lowell

Are both for new recruits? The MPTC website for new recruits only lists Boylston, Plymouth, Reading, S. Weymouth and Western MA as new recruit academys. Is Reading aka as Lowell?

Reading, Writing, Arithmetic, and Lowell are all new recruit academies.........

Boylston, Plymouth, Reading, S. Weymouth and Western MA are recruit academies that are run by the MPTC. Some agencies run their own recruit academies with an MPTC approved curriculum, such as Lowell, MBTA, Boston, Worcester, etc.

There is definitely a big difference between Lowell and Reading.

Lowell is not exactly governed by the MPTC so they have a little bit more flexibility when it comes to the realism of the training.

That being said, both are good academies.

There have been good officers to come out of both academies, and there have been bad officers who have come out of both academies. If you give it 100% at the academy, you'll turn out fine.

Very well put!

I heard most municipal recruits are going to the State Police Academy in New Braintree now or the NEMLEC Academy in Reading at Camp Curtis Guild.
