BRAINTREE - After a monthlong investigation, police arrested two men they said were selling drugs behind a church.
The police said Daniel Blinn, 24, of Braintree sold heroin to customers who parked at the back of Emmanuel Episcopal Church on Washington Street. Police said Blinn would typically take a customer’s order and money, then call his supplier, who would send a ‘‘runner’’ to Blinn’s nearby home. There Blinn would pay the runner for the heroin before delivering it to his customer in the church parking lot.
Police said that Friday evening, as detectives from Braintree and the South Shore Drug Task Force watched Blinn’s house, they saw Blinn and Javier Camareno, 33, of Brockton exchanging money ‘‘for something in return.’’ As Blinn left Camareno’s silver Chrysler Concorde, detectives moved in, with Blinn tossing away his cell phone and another object.
No drugs were found on him, though ‘‘detectives believe he tossed the drugs into the yard and they were lost in the snow,’’ the police department said in a statement.
Camareno tried to drive away ‘‘but was taken into custody after a brief struggle,’’ police said. Heroin was found in his car, with Camareno still holding the money Blinn gave him, according to police.
Blinn and Camareno were charged with conspiracy to violate the federal Drug Control Act. Camareno was also charged with possessing heroin with intent to distribute in a school zone.
They were to be arraigned today in Quincy District Court.
