CANTON - An Avon man is being charged with drunken driving after slamming his pickup truck into the back of a car on Interstate 95 today, injuring a Mansfield woman.
John Connolly, 43, walked away from the accident into nearby woods, State Trooper Chris Booth said. He came out of the woods when police swarmed the area with flood lights and search dogs.
A Mansfield woman driving the car hit from behind by Connolly’s truck was taken to Caritas Norwood Hospital, Booth said. Her name and the extent of her injuries were not available this morning. Connolly was not injured, Booth said.
The accident happened at about 2 a.m. on Interstate 95 north, just south of Interstate 93 in Canton.
Connolly was charged with drunken driving, driving to endanger, speeding and a marked lanes violation.
He was held at the State Police barracks in Foxboro and was due to be arraigned today in Stoughton District Court.
