FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. -- A South Florida police officer had a run-in with a suspicious subject at a Wendy's restaurant on Tuesday. Plantation police said a school resource officer stopped a man on Monday who was violating a restraining order by being on the South Plantation High School campus. The man fled the scene on Monday, but came back in a stolen car on Tuesday. The officer, Kendrick Gomez, followed 18-year-old Jackie Aime in an unmarked car until the two got into a confrontation in the middle of a Davie street. "The school resource officer pulls his vehicle in front of the vehicle," said Detective Phil Toman of the Plantation Police Department. "As the school resource officer was exiting his vehicle, it appeared that the subject tried to run the police officer over, at which time the police officer was able to roll out of the way and shot a round off at the vehicle." Toman said he was not sure if Gomez's bullet had hit the vehicle. Police said Aime, in a stolen BMW, sped away from the scene to attempt to get onto Interstate 95. He brushed another vehicle with the stolen BMW. "I got to get out of the way, that's all I kept thinking," witness Deanne Garvey said. "And then I thought, OK somebody just hit my car." Aime was arrested in Hollywood and faces several charges. "I don't know anything about him other than he was driving around in a stolen vehicle," Toman said. "Obviously he ran from the police yesterday. Apparently he doesn't care, thinks that the police aren't going to chase him down and arrest him. Today, it was a different story for him." No one was injured in the ordeal.
