Last updated: 2:24 p.m., Wednesday, November 28, 2007 TROY NY -- Officer Sam Carello and his mount Ben this afternon chased down a man who allegedly stole money from a woman, city police said. Police gave this account of the theft:
It occurred at a convenience store at Fourth and State streets between 12:30 p.m. and 12:45 p.m. The woman ran to police headquarters at Sixth Street to report the theft. Carello was on mounted patrol when the call went out to be on the lookout for the robber. Carello spotted him and chased over two blocks to capture him in Williams Alley, police said. The clop-clop of Ben's hooves could be heard over the radio. The suspect, whose identity has not yet been released, is being charged and processed at headquarters.
