I was reading a story in last Sunday's Globe North.

The story was about recent academy graduates who were joining the Lynn PD. One guy was listed as being 53 years old. Now I realize this gentleman could have been a laterial but the story didn't mention it and if he was joining from another department he wouldn't have to go through the academy again.

Just wondering. anyone from Lynn have any info?

I sit on entry level oral interviews for my department. Yesterday I had a 52 year-old DEA agent come in for an interview. He's planning on retiring in a few months and wants to start a new career after 20 years with them. He's gonna have to attend our academy but he said he's ready and raring to go. More power to him! He certainly brings a wealth of knowledge with him.

He's originally from New York City and said he's a Yankee fan. Of course he was automatically failed! (just kidding)

Lynn is f*cked up. Even if you are on the list and get hired and already have a FT academy, you have to go again, as their seniority is based on academy class rank or some BS. So a guy that went to Reading academy and worked in Nahant got hired a year later by Lynn and had to go to Reading academy AGAIN. DUMB DUMB DUMB

Not all civil service agencies adhear to the age limit. Quincy for one has no age limit, I would guess Lynn is the same way.

Hi Dave,
I'll check on those two and see if they're still on the job. I'll let you know where.

Congrats on the new job, hope it works out.
