Prick.

The fact I had to ask pretty much sums up the foolishness of it all.

I may very well be missing something but I can't see how all this ATV legislation is going to help in regards to the "Guns in Court" issue.

That's what you get for sitting at home and watching your soaps all day... It's the totality of things going on, not just this one bill, but it does help show a renewed interest in what MEP does...

"employee of the commonwealth having police powers on public lands." This part should go as well, otherwise every park supervisor will be trying to get Ch 90 books.

Tuna - the Stooges? Whiskey Tango Foxtrot? You gotta camera in the Boston Office? You ought to be reading "Dilbert" this week - talks about the loss of moral compass for managers. Go figure - Scott Adams must be looking at the MEP managers (er, excuse me, barf, ralph, gaak!) I mean the freak show that's running the outfit. Just think, the guys getting "disciplined" for keeping their guns in the courts are answering to the kids that got picked on in high school - revenge of the nerds, part 4! Latest on the wire is that the illustrious former Major is part of a Shire-Reeve Dept teaching classes on how to deal with "difficult employees". Easy answer - retire just ahead of the ethics commission and get a hack job from the Shire-Reeve. The harder solution is to spend a few years actually doing the job, open a law book once in a while, and don't joke around your subordinates about the "job" being "Designer Welfare" everytime one of them actually tries to do what's right.
OOPS. SORRY - this is Massachusetts, I forgot. Must be the beer and the week away from work!

Very interesting ATV bill. Looks like it is going to pass according to the bill history. It has some very needed changes, especially the OUI and reckless portion. The park ranger law enforcement section looks sneaky. The statute allows for probable cause arrests for the whole chapter for any law enforcement officer empowered to enforce it. Will they have arrest powers now for 90B? There has always been a way for park rangers to become deputy EPOs but I understand that the practice is almost never done and that only a few supervisory rangers have ever been deputy EPOs. Regular rangers are technically empowered to write park rule violation tickets now, including their own version of m/v violation tickets. I heard the DCR who oversees them took all of these books away a few years ago after people started appealing them in court and the DCR wanted nothing to do with sending rangers to court to prosecute them.
