Duties: Transmits messages from a communication base station. Operates a lexar 2000 switchboard to relay incoming and outgoing telephone calls. Receives, transfers, screens and logs messages and maintains records. Uses and coordinates the people-finder paging system. Contacts and provides follow-up for all emergencies including but not limited to medical, fire, campus safety, weather and maintenance. All communications are in accordance with the rules and regulations of the FCC.
Special Requirements: After appointment, appointees must obtain a valid Restricted Radiotelephone Operator's permit issued by the Federal Communications Commission.

Comments: This is a civil service position. If there is no civil service list for this title, employees appointed must take and pass the next Civil Service examination when administered. This is a full-time position. Interested applicants must be flexible in working scheduled shift and days off (Sunday and Saturday) as they may vary with proper prior notice in order to meet the needs of the Department.
