I have a freind that went through a backround for Chelsea P.D a few weeks/month ago. He said they were hiring I think 8 or so, ALL laterals so don't get your hopes up unless they suddenly decide that they don't wanna save tons of money. He also said that thee is some kind of hold up on start dates due to some lawsuit the city is dealing with on the F.D side i believe.

Thanks for the info.

Good luck

Posted by: Foxy85

Will an infraction negate the rep point? lol

A co-worker of mine just got a card for them. He is a vet, so I am guessing they are not just going to do laterals

I got my card, non-resident vet, in the mid 30's on the list. I'm starting the Sheriff Academy next week, so I screwed myself. I wish I got it sooner. I think I'm going to decline when I sign the list. I think that it will look bad if I try to get on the CPD while in the Sheriff academy(lack of commitment). I have the worst luck. Maybe they will hire again a year from now.

If you decline this offer your it would be the worst thing you will ever do in your life. Sheriff academy is a joke and a waste of time. If you get the call, GO. It's a once in a lifetime opportunity.

The list has a lot of residents and D-Vets in front of me.

Posted by: j809

Doesn't matter, you said you were 30 something on the list. They can breeze through the list very quickly. If they hire 15 , they have to call a minimum of 31 cards, that's bare minimum, usually they will call for much more as people wash out of the process. Take you sheriffs job and go through the process. If you get CPD then kindly resign from the Sheriff. I know guys that dropped out mid way in the municipal academy class when MSP called them to start RTT.

redsox03, there were 25 names on my list and my name was more than half way down it. Now the BI's are done and there are less than 12 of us left. I'd sign the list and give it a shot.

Chelsea had one guy in the Reading academy that just graduated. From what I understand, there will be 8-10 more behind him very shortly.

As for the Sheriff's academy....we had a few folks in my class that came from the various counties' Sheriffs Offices. They all seemed to be of the opinion that they wanted to expand their options. I think that says something. I can't imagine that there are nearly as many guys that have a municipal academy sitting through Sheriff's academies. If you have the chance, take the municipal academy. It will serve you better in the long run.

find out what CPD pays. if it's close to the Sheriffs sign the list and see what happens.

if you get called , take it. Chelsea would be the better job.

speaking of which , how's your Spanish ?

Sign the list!!!

I've heard of people who have started the academy with one town and finished with another. Not sure how true this is but it was a rumor I heard.

Posted by: redsox03

I dislocated my shoulder at the gym yesterday, so I'm hoping is better by Monday in time for the academy. Im signing the CPD list for sure now. I have the worst luck.

Has Chelsea given you a time table they plan on hiring in?

Posted by: redsox03

Not yet, I'm signing the list on Friday. I'll let you know what they say then.

Posted by: TPD

Posted by: redsox03

I signed it today. They said "The non-residents probably will not hear anything back, but you never know".
