I'm looking for some advice on how much running I should be doing for the academy. I'm trying to get a head start to make my life easier, so any info given will be appreciated. I already run but I would like to know the general lenghts ran in the academies, every little bit helps. Thank you.

Depending on how much trouble we where in we ran anywhere from 4-10 miles.

Run as much as you think you can and then push yourself to run just one more mile and then add to it every time you run. After a certain point I felt like I could run all day! By the time the academy starts you should be good to go... Good luck!!

Thanks it sounds like its time to strap the boots on a little tighter.

Just take care of yourself of injuries, relax on the weekends, and good luck.

the academy wants to see improvement through your time there.... dont blow your load on the first pt eval.......

Invest in ice packs, Icyhot, and plenty od Advil........

If you can run a solid 4-5 miles at a decent pace and still feel good you'll be one of the top PT people in your class. Trust me, there will be a few bags in the class that haven't run a single mile and they will hold you back so it sounds like you're doing fine.

did anyone watch that PT test video on the CS website? you gotta drag a dummy 10 feet, the guy in the video drags it by the head, thought that was comical.

The air quality in that armory is horrible for the pat test.

You actually have no choice. You have to drag it by the head.

I took it in July a couple years ago. They almost had to cancel it because it was so hot. I assume it is just as bad in the winter.

Drag it anyway you can to get it the distance in the time allotted. I thought it was 25 feet in 14 secs? Maybe they changed it

Depends upon what academy you go to. I went to Lowell and we ran our asses off Mon, Wed, and Fridays until we hit 10 miles in one day

The key is too run, run and run. You will be in the best shape of your life upon graduation
