is anyone hiring??

Posted by: masscopguy

Wheaton College in Norton has an opening. The call themselves Public Safety but the are Special Police.

Posted by: samadam78

does anyone know what the starting salary is? Do they carry firearms?

Posted by: mcpd704

Give it a few months, I am sure plenty of campus departments will have openings after officers jump ship for municipal jobs since the Civil Service list just came out.

Posted by: Macop

Wheaton does not carry firearms. Its good for a jumping stone, but you won't do a lot there as far as Police work. Its a pretty laid back job, the pay if I rememebr correctly was 791.00 bi wekly to start, no union at the time. It could be different now.

Too subjective a question. Do a search under this title and you'll get a wealth of information.

Posted by: mpd61

As far as good departments here's one with an exceptional Sgt. who aspires to leave the union for a Lt. position...

Posted by: MDSP2597

Ouch!

Posted by: K.Lavoie

Wheaton couldn't be paying that low?????????????

Posted by: Macop

MPD61,

You never give up! The sargeant you're knocking has more experience and morals than you'll ever have. After the investigation was finished she still there because she knew how to cooperate and do the right thing. Your to bitter to accept the facts now.

Start networking (ass-kissing) with all those campus cops you see in court without their guns. They'll be glad to help you after they read your posts supporting them in the other threads.

Shit,a Brockton HS graduate out is more qualified than the GED holding Chief with a 24 hour basic reserve academy from 1971.

Maybe so, but you have to know somebody very high on the food chain to score a job there...

Posted by: OutOfManyOne

DaFlava Flav overthere is a dink. He walked in there and told everyone there that they are not good enough to be promoted, so he brings in his RTT cronies who were LTs and CPTs retired and make them LTs. What a great manager, huh. I also heard he hired one of his bike riding buddies never been a cop, sends him to FT academy and puts him on the MC unit at MIT while other gusy with seniority were told to screw.

What did you expect him to do? put his feet up and snore? You really are such an expert. Maybe you should be Chief and you could do better? Oh maybe you could start out smaller like at Massasoit and learn from the Sgt. She's got her masters. Your a masterbater!

ERRONEOUS on all counts!!!

He never told anyone they were not good enough to be promoted. He walked into a disfunctional department and had to turn it around.

No MSP Lt or Cpt was hired by DiFava

Only on RTT classmate (retired at Trooper rank)was hired, they others were a former Met Sgt and a retired US Dep Marshall

No riding buddies were hired and put through the academy.

Selection to the MC unit are based upon seniority and completion of a MC skills course. No one was told to "screw"

Posted by: OutOfManyOne

Well I heard same stuff from three officers(former) and they all had the same story. If they were lying ,sorry, but somehow the BS at MIT is quite the same as Harvard Univ PD and other hack run institutions.

Quick hint FAPD. Use the SIGN OUT feature when you leave the computer, lest these type of occurances happen yet again.

Posted by: mpd61

You tell him Ed! I remember about four (4) plus years ago when j809 did that to me more than once. At least now we don't work together. But I still love him.

And don't ever cache your passwords boys and girls, big mistake on a shared PC..

So you and ChicWithBadge are working the same guardshack. Someone should call Acme Security and let them know that while you're playing cop on the internet, they're stripping the building of all it's copper.

Broadband in the little shack.

Posted by: infocop

Hear the new chief just promoted the one lt left. How do you dump just 2 out of 3 buddies? Sounds like someone made a nice bed there! Mmmmm

Posted by: Kilvinsky

Wow, this thread had spun off in several non-related directions.

Check out Fisher. Some time ago, Fisher was getting bashed left and right. Well, there IS a new chief and my brief meeting with him last summer lead me to believe he MIGHT have a real interest in making things good there. I'm sure it's not going to be a Tufts or BU, (I mean, there really is only about 7 buildings located on a one way street-even a car would be a bit impractical) but there's hope. Give them a chance.

Posted by: biggun128

BC Police have posted an opening for 1 officer

Posted by: JMB1977

Holy Cross is always hiring!!

Posted by: infocop

a school in the peoples republic should be hiring, their staff is down 3 lt's, 2-3 sgt's and about 5 patrols. what are they doing, saving $$$ for the future? Mmmm

Hey, it's a job and it'll help pay the bills. THAT is the most important thing. If a person gets in there and gets some experience and then dixies into another department, so be it. If a person gets in there and makes a career, good for him/her. If a person gets in there and works towards changing things for the better, more power to him/her.

Bottom line...IT'S A JOB. Anyone who turns down a job because a better one 'might' come along is a moron. That better one might NEVER come along and you'll be sitting bitching about all the loser departments out there (who won't hire you) and telling everyone here what a crappy this or that department is. Turn NOTHING down or the bottom line is, YOU are the loser.

Man I am so sick of the people who have such negative things to say about everyone and can never explain what makes THEM superior.

I don't mean YOU JMB1977. I just used your quote since it hit a nerve with me and made me think of all those superior beings out there.

Man,
You know I only consider myself superior to CHICwithGrudge and strt8shit. Oh and a few Lawyers and Administrators at a certain Community College in Brockton!

Posted by: Out2lunch

MPD61 is better than everyone else ...He worked at MGH....

Oh ya Copper is $2.50 to $3.00 a pound for scrap metal depending on the quality... If I made $7.50hr at ACME Secuirty I would worry about Officers "supplementing" their income.... How much copper can a Honda Accord carry....hahaha...
