(WBZ)GARDNER A bank robber sporting a fake mustache and sunglasses slipped a teller a note with a threatening message before taking off with over $3,000 in cash Wednesday afternoon, Gardner police said.
The man robbed the Fidelity Bank at 330 Main St. in Gardner around 12:40 p.m., officials said.
The man had written the threatening message on a withdrawal slip, saying, "This is not a joke. Give me 10,000 dollars...don't be stupid. Stay calm and quiet or bodys (sic) will drop."
The man is white and is said to be 20 to 30 years old. He appeared to have a body builder's physique, police said, with wide shoulders and a heavy chest.
He wore a gray pull-over sweater with two dark horizontal stripes across the front, a light blue cap, Blu-Blocker-Viper brand sunglasses, an obvious false mustache, dark slacks and white shoes, police said. The teller said the robber may have had a wad of chewing tobacco under his bottom lip.
The robber placed the stolen cash into a folded newspaper and fled the bank on foot. He was last seen running near the intersection of Main and Pine streets.
Police said they found the robber's sunglasses on the ground nearby.
