WETHERSFIELD, Conn. (AP) - State police have identified the Wethersfield police officers involved in a shooting that left a Hartford homicide suspect dead.
Gerard Chapdelaine of Hartford was wanted for allegedly killing his child's grandmother in that city when Wethersfield police confronted him in their town.
State police said Chapdelaine refused repeated orders to drop his gun and instead pointed it at officers, who shot him multiple times early Tuesday.
Wethersfield officer Ronald Floyd, a 3-year veteran, and Anthony DeMonte, a 6-year veteran, are on desk duty until an investigation is complete.
The dead woman in Hartford was identified as 47-year-old Lorna Coley, the grandmother of Chapdelaine's infant son. Coley was shot in the head about four hours after family members called police to say the 39-year-old Chapdelaine was in the front yard waving a gun.
