QUINCY - A New Bedford man is being held on $5,000 cash bail after allegedly slashing his brother’s face with a straight razor.
Tyrone McFadden, 43, pleaded innocent Monday in Quincy District Court to charges of assault with intent to murder and assault and battery with a dangerous weapon.
Judge Paul McCallum also revoked bail for an assault case McFadden has pending in New Bedford District Court.
Police were called to Town Hill Street shortly after 9 p.m. Friday to investigate a stabbing.
Christopher McFadden Jr. told police that his uncle had attacked Christopher’s father.
The younger McFadden gave police a description of his uncle and the clothes he was wearing.
Police spotted Tyrone McFadden a short distance away at Granite and Water streets and arrested him.
The weapon used in the alleged attack was found in Tyrone McFadden’s pocket.
Emergency medical personnel treated Christopher McFadden at the scene.
McFadden, who did not go to the hospital, declined yesterday to comment.
The 45-year-old McFadden told police that his brother had been drinking and arguing while at his Quincy home earlier in the evening.
McFadden said he gave his brother money for the bus.
McFadden and his son then left to get something to eat, according to a police report filed with the court.
As they returned and passed a bus stop, Christopher McFadden saw his brother and offered him more money so he would be able to take a commuter train to New Bedford.
Tyrone McFadden then pulled a straight razor and allegedly told his sibling, ‘‘I’ll cut your throat,’’ as he lunged at him, police said.
Christopher McFadden told police that his face was slashed when he attempted to fend off the attack.
Judge McCallum set bail for Tryone McFadden, also known as Tyrone Gathers, after learning he has a criminal record and a history of skipping court appearances.
Prosecutor Siobhan Foley told the judge that McFadden could face indictment.
