Posting from Iraq....where to start?

Sorry to post the same old question, but I haven't found any information that directly pertains to my situation. I am currently active duty Army, stationed in Iraq for the 2nd time. I get out of the Army in early '09 after 5 years, and I am interested in becoming a Mass State Police Officer. Is there anything I can do now to start the process?

Other information: 22 years old, very physically fit, light drinker, non smoker or drug user.

Did you take the exam in 2002?

Posted by: HELPMe

The only way to get on is to take the next test. The next test date has not been posted but it should be some time in the next 3 years. You will also get points on the test for being a vet. Hope this helps.

IronSoldier, First off, thanks for your service. Sencondly, get home safely by not worrying about the state police. The MSP has been around in one form or another since 1865. It ain't goin' anywhere soon. If you must, you can check on-line at the MSP web site for an upcoming exam which is not yet on the radar screen. The test is the first step. Till then the priority is getting home in one piece. Besides that, keep outta legal trouble, stay in good shape and continue to serve with distinction. rhl

ironsoldier13, greetings! To all my fellow masscoppers, greetings as well! Sorry it has taken so long to post anything here, but, as you know, I am pretty busy. 13, I am a Trooper and also currently in Iraq. There are 5 of us here in my Company. Send me a PM and I will give you the info where we are located (I don't want to put any other info on a public message board). If you are in the Baghdad area, you can come over and we will chat.

ironsoldier13, good luck over there. I'm not a Cop or a Trooper, but, I just wanted to share some advice with you. I can understand wanting to be a Trooper, don't limit yourself to MSP only or you may possibly wait quite some time just to be in for a let down. There hasn't been a MSP test in 5 years and no word on the next one. I believe it was 15,000 that signed up for the last test, my 94 didn't get me anywhere. The Civil Service Muni Police test is every 2 years. Your active duty time counts towards some things in the Federal world of LE(ICE, CBP, etc), too. Between this site, MA HRD site, and USAJOBS.com there is a wealth of info and you can get a good idea of the available jobs and how often they come up.

Well, I have not heard from Ironsoldier13 here or over there yet. This will be my last post for a while being that my 2 week leave is up. I'm headed back "down range" on X-mas morining (thanks uncle sam). I'll be back on in a few weeks provided that they finally got our internet up over there! Keep it real, keep it safe, and stay cool! Ironsoldier, if you get this, send me a PM so we can maybe get together and chat in Baghdad. PEACE, I'M OUT!

ironsoldier13, have you thought about the Vermont State Police? I know there are quite few Troops who are from Mass. It's a great organization!
You can check on the website for test dates. I believe they test more often than MSP.

Stay safe over there!
