Well I leave in 16 hours so start my new life in Florida not knowing no one or nothing! Still has not really set in yet that I am moving and leaving my family and friends....prob won't until I'm half way there in my car.

Good luck man. Way to go after ur dream. I'm sure there'll be some tough times in the near future, but remember why you're there and what you're going to accomplish.

Posted by: LA Copper

I did the same thing when I went out to Los Angeles 19 years ago. I didn't know anyone and ended up living in a Holiday Inn for my first seven months there, including the six month academy. That was different!

Just look at it this way: Give it your best shot for a couple of years and if for whatever reason you don't like it, you can always go back home. That's why it's called home!

Good luck!

this seem to be the trend, everyone moving to FL

Better to get a job in a system that works than to sit around and complain about one that doesn't.

Have fun down there, and no matter what...BE SAFE!

Good luck and have a safe trip down there. This is a great time of year to move down there right before the crappy weather really sets in up here. Stay safe and keep in mind your ultimate goal of getting on down there, which you will.

I wish we had an exchange program with PDs in FL. I could go down for the winter while some officer from FL enjoys all NEw England has to offer, skiing, snow mobiling, ice skating.

Congrats! and best of luck.

Like in California, Florida has real police issues. If you want to see police work these are the states to go to. Say bye bye to Assachusetts and their pedophile police unions.

I did the Florida gig 20 years ago....at that time the money sucked but the job was busy, the beaches were great, the beer was cheap, and the women (the ones who had their teeth) were frickin beautiful. Good luck!

Don't forget to wear your sun block!!!
