Former Roxbury resident Michael Bohannon, 23, was sentenced to life in prison yesterday after pleading guilty to second-degree murder the day before his trial was to begin in the 2002 slaying of Adornous Hazelwood, 26. Bohannon shot Hazelwood in the back about 3 p.m. on April 1, 2002, outside Hazelwood's Roxbury apartment complex, two hours after missing him in a previous shooting attempt, prosecutors in the Suffolk district attorney's office said. Hazelwood died at Boston Medical Center the day after the shooting. Bohannon fled and was arrested in Chicago in June 2006, shortly after he was featured on the television show "America's Most Wanted."
