AGAWAM, MASSACHUSETTS (WWLP) It will be at least three more days in jail for an Agawam teen accused of threatening to bomb the school and shoot people during a pep rally. For Agawam high schoolers, the annual Thanksgiving Day football pep rally in November is one of the highlights of the year. But now, many students say they're too scared to go after hearing what a fellow student was allegedly planning.
"At the end of the day when the principal made an announcement, I was just very scared and I didn't want to go to pep rally anymore," said sophomore Danielle Debuc.
Classmates say 17-year-old Ryan Osbourne allegedly told them he'd also use Malatov cocktails to firebomb the entrances to the gym during the rally.
A judge ordered the Agawam High School junior held without bail until a hearing on Friday.
The principal of Agawam high says all procedures in this case were followed to a "t". He wants to pay special credit to the students who weren't afraid to speak up to their teachers about the threats that they had heard. "A student is not going to tell a teacher that he's going to blow up the school. They're going to tell each other and that's how you find out," said Principal Steve Lemanski.
Some parents told 22News they wished administrators had informed them of the threats on Tuesday, at the same time the students were notified. The principal says each were left a chain phone message about the incident earlier Wednesday.
