By Patriot Ledger staff COHASSET - Three Cohasset teenagers face criminal charges in the aftermath of a Cohasset Village assault that selectmen and other people in town have been talking about.
Police said a 16-year-old Cohasset boy assaulted a 15-year-old boy Sept. 21. The older boy was not arrested but faces charges of assault and battery and assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, a shod foot, police said. The 15-year-old was treated at South Shore Hospital and released, police said.
Two other boys, also 16, each face two counts of witness intimidation. Police said the boys were not involved in the initial incident but are accused of making intimidating remarks to the victim on two different occasions. Those boys were arrested last week after coming to the police station, Police Chief James Hussey said.
Police said the Sept. 21 incident occurred in the town parking lot.
Another incident involving the boys may have occurred previously at Cohasset High School, police said.
The boys’ names were not released.
After hearing about the incident in Cohasset Village, selectmen were critical of people who saw the fight but did not come to the aid of the 15-year-old boy. The board adopted a resolution that calls on residents to prevent violence.
‘‘We are most troubled by the aggressive group behavior involved here,’’ Selectmen Vice Chairman Edwin Carr said.
‘‘This is an unusual thing to happen in Cohasset,’’ Selectman Paul Carlson said.
