Hey buddie!
Tell your Florida-friend to call your friends Delta and Palooka. They'l give up the real story. Man I thought you and I didn't see eye to eye. Delta gets terminel too quick! We should all chip in for his vacation.

Can someone PM me about this dept... Good people to work with? Good ops to move up, etc., pay/bennies, Quinn Bill?

thanks to anyone that can help.

AJ

Posted by: j809

I heard only good things about WPD, goo $,full quinn, lots of details and OT and good management. Tough place to get into though, good luck.

Posted by: Foxy85

What the written exam consist of?
Whats their PAT consist of?
Pay scale?

Posted by: Macop

Inspector, I invitiede him to the Cape for some fishing and beer. I guess he don't like me. Oh well, I tried.

Its hard to get on the job anywhere in MA. Period. If you are going to go about things with that mentality, then look for another career.

Posted by: Foxy85

Whats the story with the dead line? Are they going to send out applicants a written test date? From there do we goto their PAT? or do we do the state's CS PAT prior to the academy?

Anybody heard anything....all around just anything on the process?

Posted by: kamaaina

The deadline is the end of November, I would not get to anxious. After the deadline I would imagine that they will look at the applicants and go from there. I would imagine that you will hear something by December.

Posted by: Foxy85

Is it simialr to Northborough's process with an exam and everything or just inerviews....?

Posted by: Macop

Hurry up and wait

Posted by: MDCOP

Can anyone advise base salary, quinn bill, and how much OT is generally available? I am a sgt in MD and make good money, however, would like to get back to MA if the right opportunity presented itself. Thanks for any info.

Posted by: MDCOP

Can anyone advise salary, retirement and work schedule at Westborough? Do you have to live in the town when hired?

Posted by: OutOfManyOne

My friend works there,i think he said top step is around low 50s plus Quinn Bill. Lots of OT,Lots of details and 4-2 schedule, Worcester County Retirement. 15 mile residence rule but you cannot transfer any time from MD into MA retirement system and it's up to WPD to determine if they want to apply for a waiver for you, meaning they might want you to go to FT academy again or attend the new 15 week accelerated academy at Boylston.

Posted by: BT1405

Anyone hear anything?

Posted by: lioness

All I heard was that they are forcing their police dog Xsara to retire because they don't have the $15,000 to keep the K-9 program running. (see today's Worcester Telegram).

No $ for her...but they're hiring?

Posted by: Foxy85

Any updates yet?

Posted by: OutOfManyOne

Already hired

Posted by: lioness

what?????

Posted by: Foxy85

Nice lol...

Posted by: kamaaina

No one has been hired.

Posted by: Foxy85

No test, no interviews.....Whats the deal with Wesborough P.D....any insiders with info?

Thats what I was told too ......... And thats not fourth hand. Its from someone on the job there.

Posted by: Foxy85

Heard a friend of mine got notice for their exam in Feb. Anyone else hear anything?

Posted by: ride1620

Test is Feb 2nd...got a letter the other day

Posted by: Foxy85

Any projections form anyone?

Another Northborough exam of 200+ applicants?

Posted by: ride1620

I wonder if it could be different..and maybe they screened the applications and only send test dates to somewhat qualified people. If not it will be like herding cattle through the doors to take the test.

Posted by: Foxy85

I did make a joke about it, noticing that the letter was hand signed by the Lt. Either they screened the apps. and weeded through them or he signed an awful lot of letters.....

Posted by: kamaaina

80 to 85 letters went out. Good Luck to everyone!

Posted by: Foxy85

How many openings....or is it to establish a list?

Posted by: kamaaina

Unknown at this time, however it could possibly be 3 by July.

Posted by: mcpd704

I had applied and then I recently got a card from Civil Service. I am supposed to take that test but I have decided not too and I am holding out for something different. Now there is one less applicant and hopefully it narrows the field for the others!

Posted by: Foxy85

i'm hoping that the other 65-70 people are in the same boat as you....lol...

I bet about 10-15 people don't show....That will narrrow it to about 50-55 people for 2 maybe 3 slots.....even if only 25-30 people pass.....

Tough odds....Good luck to everyone...

Posted by: kamaaina

Everyone taking the test should know that the doors will be closed and locked at 1000 hrs. There are no exceptions, so be sure to get there early and good luck to all.

Posted by: Foxy85

Wasn't expecting some of those questions lol....

Whats the next step in the process, and how long before hte results are out...?

Posted by: ride1620

How many people showed up?

Posted by: Foxy85

I'd say about 60, give or take....

Posted by: Foxy85

When are we suppose to get those scores back? That was the first test I took that had so few questions, and no bubble sheet to fill out...lol

Felt like I was in H.S. with some of those questions....

Posted by: ride1620

So it was easy?

Posted by: kamaaina

The test was just the begining part of the process, those who pass will then go onto the PT test. Possibly the Cooper Standard test.

Posted by: Foxy85

Possibly the Cooper standards?

Posted by: kamaaina

It will be the Cooper Standard.

Posted by: ride1620

Goodluck with that...

Posted by: Foxy85

That test itself, unless you were fresh out of high school was tough for some people....then the coopers PAT.....LoL there are gonna be like 5 people that make it to interviews....lol

Posted by: Mills2002

cooper is the run, sit-ups, and push-ups... is there a sit and reach??

Posted by: Foxy85

Usuually there is along with a vertical jump, and a bench press as well....I guess its up to the dept. though...

Posted by: ride1620

Mile 1.5- 12:30
Sit ups-38
Push ups-28
Bench-99% body weight
something like that..obviously depends on your age. Those are the standards give or take for someone in the low to mid 20s

Posted by: CHICwithBADGE

Are the pt standards lower for women and if so is that looked down on by the male officers

Posted by: redsox79

What is their pay scale? Entry level to top step with no quinn factored in.

The PT expectations are lower for females. I don't know anyone who "looks down" on women because of the difference in standards. The only guys that do are the ones who are fat and out of shape and need someone to blame for them failing PT tests.

Posted by: Cuda444

The physical test will be with the 35th percentile in the Cooper Standard: 1.5 mile run, pushups and situps.

Hope this helps!

Posted by: CHICwithBADGE

It's nice to have a man stick up for a woman. It seems you're secure in your manhood. Obviously VSP doesn't stand for Very Small P__is. It stands for Very Special Person at least to me.

Posted by: nesportsfan

I heard the test was a bunch of nonsense questions that had nothing to do with police work. Good stuff.

Posted by: Foxy85

Most police tests are like that, as it tests general knowledge, and not police knowledge.... It was an entry level exam. meaning those who didn't have police experience are still able to have a fair shot at it....

I will say alot of the things on that test, I haven't seen since H.S.

Posted by: BoSox2

just curious if anyone else got a call from the chief about the pat test? i got one and wanted to know how many they sent out...

Posted by: kamaaina

There was approximately 40 calls made to individuals for the PT test. Also if you are wondering what is involved in the test and to get the release form for the test, go online to Westboroughpolice.com and you can download the pdf form with the Age / Time breakdowns for the test. Good luck to all. Also it was a general knowledge test, due to the fact that is was not a requirment to have the academy or police training to take the test. Still with the test approximately 12 individuals failed (below 70%)

Posted by: Macop

The P/T tests should be the same for all. Being secure in manhood has nothing to do with it.
