A man subdued with a stun gun last week has died, Quebec provincial police said. Quilem Registre, 39, died Wednesday night in a Montreal hospital, said a provincial police spokeswoman. Police will not release any more details about the circumstances surrounding his death. Registre was struck by one or several electric shocks from a Taser gun last Sunday, after police stopped him for a traffic violation around 9:30 p.m. in Montreal's St-Michel district. Police said Registre hit three parked cars and acted intoxicated when they approached him. They said they used a Taser gun to subdue him because he was aggressive. He ended up in hospital in critical condition and required two operations before dying. Another man died at an airport in British Columbia after being tasered by Mouties there. This has led to widespread debate across Canada about use of the weapon.
