PEMBROKE - Police arrested a Pembroke man after he allegedly broke into a home on Claremont Road.
Police charged Shane M. Derochea, 27, of 91 Mountain Ave. with breaking and entering a building in the daytime for felony, possessing a burglarious instrument and resisting arrest.
Police say they received a call just after noon Saturday from a Claremont Road resident who said a white male in his 20s had come through her back door and said he was looking for his dog.
When she said she hadn’t seen the dog, he headed for a neighbor’s house. She saw him at the house next door and knew her neighbors were not home, so she called the police.
When police arrived at the house next door, the man ran away. Officers pursued him on foot and caught him, police said. At the house, they found that a window had been pried open.
Police said Derochea entered the house through the window and jumped out of the same window when police arrived.
Derochea was carrying a pry bar, and other tools were found on him and in the yard, police said.
