HI everyone. i'm 21 years old and i come from a small town near springfield. I have been given the opportunity to go to the full time police academy, however, because my town is so small, it is not willing to drop 2,700 on the academy. There is no way i can pay that out of pocket and i was wondering if any of you had suggestions, or have found ways of paying your own way in the past. No place will give me a student loan because i'm not enroled in a "school". i'm now considering just going to the part time academy and saving money to pay for the next full time one. any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. my next question is with regards to my duty gear. besides buying it second hand, what are some places that offer good deals?
-thanks everyone

If it's important enough get a personal loan from a bank or write one of the credit card checks. It's not bad debt since it's an investment in your future.

Personal loan from a bank, most of them shouldn't have a problem with it. As far as duty gear goes you can always get some second hand, ask the academy recruits with you, or figure it into the cost of your loan. Once hired details and OT will pay for it in a short period of time.

What they said. Get a loan.

I would say get a 5,000 dollar loan. it should cover the academy and the gear. with details and overtime you should be able to pay it back in a year or two.
