City man robbed at gunpoint in his home
NEW BEDFORD — A city man said two armed men broke into his bedroom window and robbed him at gunpoint, New Bedford police spokesman Lt. Jeffrey Silva said.
The man told police he was sitting on the couch in the living room of his Belleville Road home Monday night when he saw the suspects enter through his bedroom window. A male suspect wearing blue jeans and a dark hooded sweatshirt told the man he owed him $20, and said, "If you don't give it to me, I'll shoot you," Lt. Silva said.
The victim said he did not know the suspect, and could not tell who the other suspect was, but said that he wore white pants and a white sweatshirt, Lt. Silva said.
The victim told police he went to get money from an envelope in his living room; the armed suspect then grabbed his shoulders and a struggle ensued, Lt. Silva said. The victim suffered a bruise to his left eye and swelling to his left cheek area.
Police found no fingerprints on the bedroom window, Lt. Silva said.
