(WBZ) CONCORD Two children were ejected from a minivan during an accident in Concord Monday afternoon.

According to state police, the accident happened on Route 2 near Baker Ave. Police say a van was trying to make an illegal left turn onto Baker Ave. when it was struck by a car driving in the opposite direction.

Both cars then hit an SUV stopped at a light on Baker Ave.

Officers tell WBZ the two children who were ejected were not wearing seatbelts at the time of the crash. One of the children, police say, is young enough to be in a car seat.

The extent of the children's injuries is not known at this time.

The woman driving the minivan is expected to be charged with making the illegal left turn, according to police. Charges for the children not being buckled in could soon follow.

It is a $25 civil fine for each child caught not wearing a seatbelt.
