SPRINGFIELD, MASSACHUSETTS (WWLP) - Police shut down an alleged after hours bar Sunday morning at 51 Baldwin St. in Springfield.
For months, residents would reportedly open their home to strangers for late night drinking binges. Lt. John Slepchuck said the "vice squad" had a tight grip on the residence for some time.
Slepchuck said Glenn Haines, along with his son Craig and others, solicited customers to their home each weekend for after hours drinking for the price of admission.
Haines was not home Saturday night, but denies being a proprietor of the bogus bar.
"I was at work in Hartford, CT and I do live here. They said we were selling beer and stuff but we were not," stated Haines. Haines feels like he is being unfairly targeted, "this is a gay thing we have going on it my house we have a lot of gay people that dress up doing shows at my house in my basement having fun."
Armed with a warrant, police confiscated alcohol, 300-dollars cash and a small stash of drugs. Twenty-one-year-old Kristina Colon and 31-year-old Craig Haines, each are charged with illegally selling alcohol.
