Police are searching for a man who robbed a Hess gas station at knife point yesterday afternoon, and fled down the railroad tracks behind the Broadway Street and Eastern Avenue store. The man, described as being in his late 20s or early 30s and dressed in blue jeans and a black, hooded sweatshirt, entered the station about 1 p.m. and threatened the clerk with a knife, said Lieutenant Glenn Cronin. A witness reported seeing the suspect with a handgun. He grabbed cash from the register and was last seen running in the direction of the abandoned tracks, Cronin said. Police pursued with a K-9 unit, he said.
