WEST SPRINGFIELD, MASSACHUSETTS (WWLP) - During the Big E there was a car that was getting more than a few looks. The vehicle getting all the attention was a 1951 Ford that had served as a Massachusetts state police cruiser.
People got to admire it on the grounds of the Massachusetts building. In the future, it will be going into the planned Massachusetts state police museum and learning center that will be built in Grafton.
"This was privately donated to the former Massachusetts State Troopers Association who, through donations, had it restored. It was not a cruiser in 1951, but it is a 1951 Ford which the state police would have purchased and equipped for a cruiser. So this is how it would have looked in 1951" said Trooper Chris Sanchez.
The Massachusetts State Police is the oldest state police agency in the country, founded in 1865.
I've seen that car in person. It is a nice car and done well. I think I have it up under the Gallery if you want to see another shot of it.
